Thoughts on Cultural Dissimilitude
I'm sure most people emigrate because there is some kind of perceived problem with the country or culture they previously lived in. I firmly believe that one of the prices you pay when you leave your old land behind is that of leaving any negative cultural baggage there. This doesn't equate to leaving everything of your original culture at home, just elements that are likely to clash with the sensibilities of the country that you have been permitted to move to. This is simply a matter of common sense and respect.
My own view is that 'British' Muslims who hate our culture and our lifestyle should either assimilate or repatriate, and they should make their choice quickly and with honour. Britain is not going to cave in to the laws of Sharia, the repression of the burqa, or the inhumanity of halal (and jihadi) butchery whatever the lunatic minority of that religion delude themselves into believing. Wearing the veil is a personal choice of course (sometimes the woman's, often not), but is still a definite visual symbol of Islamic separatism.
The Multiculturalist experiment is not working out for anyone. A return to British monoculturalism would be a good way to start undoing some of the societal fragmentation we have had imposed on us by left wing egalitarian policies. This would mean Muslims would have to accept that they are a foreign minority and adapt as such, rather than polluting the little quality that remains of our culture with their Third World barbarism. If the aggressive spread of Islam concerns you, and you haven't yet read Howard Bloom's opinions on it as a memetic force, I advise bracing yourself before you do so.
I'm not really in favour of forcing immigrants to be more
like us, but I do think we should expect a larger degree of cultural uniformity.
Muslims should be free to practice their religions in private, but not allowed
to build any kind of public momentum through movements, protests, extremism,
etc. Also, they should not be able to claim the right of 'free speech' with one
hand whilst placing a stranglehold around the throats of anyone within or
outside their own community who does not conform to their narrow views with the
other.
In the UK we've seen enough of the negative effects of over-tolerance. I'm not
condoning an end to religious tolerance altogether but I feel that it's time for
Common Sense to take Fear Of Causing Offence firmly by the shoulders, then
shaking it hard until its politically correct teeth fall out.
